We, the former students, faculty, staff, and friends of Jimma University (JU) and its affiliated institutions living abroad, appreciating the opportunity we were given at JU and its affiliated institutions, find it important for ourselves and those who will come after us, to maintain, nourish, and sustain the University, its affiliated institutions, and its alumni and friends. Mindful of our responsibilities and opportunities as former students, faculty, staff and as current friends of the institution, we have formed this voluntary non-profit and non-political association.      April 12,2003
